One-to-One Islamic Studies for Females

1. Individual Islamic Studies Programme: Weekly Private Lessons (60 Minutes)

The private one-to-one Islamic Studies programme offers a personalised and structured approach to learning about Islam, tailored to the needs and level of each individual student. Lessons are rooted in the authentic teachings of the Qur’ān and Sunnah, with guidance from trusted scholars. Through selected topics and interactive discussion, students are encouraged to develop skills in reflection, understanding, and application—particularly in relation to challenges and questions faced by Muslims in today’s world.

This course is ideal for adult women and girls aged 9+, including new Muslims, newly practising sisters, and those seeking a clear and grounded introduction to Islamic knowledge. It also serves as a strong foundation for those who may wish to pursue IGCSE or A-Level Islamic Studies at a later stage.

The course content draws from bespoke materials developed by Shaykh Abu Khadeejah ʿAbdul-Wāḥid—comprising hundreds of pages of structured notes—with new topics added regularly, alḥamdulillāh. May Allāh reward and preserve his efforts.

2. Why Weekly One-to-One Islamic Studies Lessons Are So Beneficial

These private lessons have been designed to support girls and women in developing a sound and meaningful understanding of Islam in both historical and contemporary contexts. Covering a range of essential topics drawn from the Qur’an and Sunnah, the sessions encourage analytical thinking, reflection, and the application of knowledge to real-life issues affecting Muslims today.

Taught by Dr Naheed Anwar, each one-to-one lesson is tailored to the student’s level, pace, and needs, ensuring a focused and enriching learning experience. There is ample time for questions and discussion during each session. Any questions that require further scholarly input are referred to Shaykh Abu Khadeejah for an informed response, inshā’-Allāh. Homework is regularly assigned to reinforce learning and, if submitted, will be marked and returned with feedback, inshā’-Allāh. However, completing homework remains optional.

These individual lessons also provide an excellent foundation for students who may wish to pursue formal qualifications in Islamic Studies in the future, such as the International GCSE (Edexcel Pearson Certificate) or the Advanced Level Islamic Studies course (Cambridge Assessment), taught by Shaykh Abu Khadeejah, inshā’-Allāh. The curriculum is based on authentic materials developed by Shaykh Abu Khadeejah ʿAbdul-Wāḥid, including thousands of pages of detailed study notes, with new content being added regularly—all praise is due to Allāh, and may He bless and preserve it.

As private instruction is highly flexible, students can begin at any time and benefit immediately, inshā’-Allāh, without needing to follow a fixed academic calendar.

3. Course Dates and Times

When can I register?
Applications are accepted year-round, though it is recommended to register between 1st June and 1st September for a September or October start. As places for one-to-one private lessons are limited, early registration increases the likelihood of securing your preferred time slot, inshā’-Allāh.

Course Start Date:
Private lessons typically begin in September or October, but students may start at any point in the year, subject to availability.

Payment:
Fees are paid every 3 months in advance, or annually in full for those who prefer to secure their place long-term.

Although the course is designed as a three-year programme, students may begin or conclude their studies earlier based on their personal learning goals. Please note that rejoining at a later date is subject to availability.

4. Day and Time Each Week

These private one-to-one Islamic Studies lessons are held weekly and last 60 minutes. Lesson times are arranged directly with Dr Naheed Anwar to accommodate each student’s availability and time zone, making the course accessible to women and girls from around the world.

There are 36 lessons per academic year, divided across three terms and broadly aligned with UK and US school term calendars. Scheduled breaks include major holidays and ʿEid vacations. While students may begin at any point during the year, most private programmes commence in September. The course can span one, two, or three years, depending on the student’s age, goals, and academic progression.

As this is a personalised programme, the lesson time may be adjusted if necessary, in consultation with the student or parent/guardian. A typical month includes approximately four hours of focused learning, with the consistency of weekly study offering long-term benefits in both understanding and retention, inshā’-Allāh.

Classroom Participation Guidelines: To ensure a respectfulsafe, and focused learning environment for all female students and the instructor, it is mandatory for all participants to wear headphones or earphones during lessons and to keep their cameras switched on at all times. These measures help to safeguard privacy and minimise distractions. Any student who does not adhere to these guidelines may be removed from the session. Your cooperation is essential and greatly appreciated in maintaining these standards.

9. How the Lessons are Taught

  1. You will need a Gmail (Google email) account. Once you’ve set it up, please email us from the Gmail account with your full name.
  2. Please choose a simple username, such as an actual name or a kunyah, e.g., abdullah.jones, or abu.zainab, or umm.talibah, etc. This makes it easy for us to recognise individual students.
  3. Your assignments will be submitted via Google Docs, which you’ll have access to through your Gmail account.
  4. Lesson Format: We intend to use Google Classroom to conduct the classes. Please take time to familiarise yourselves with both. Don’t worry too much if you cannot grasp it immediately, we will help you along.
  5. You will need to have regular access to a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer for use in lessons and for submitting assignments. Smartphones will not be sufficient!
  6. Please attend on time, pay attention to the class, and it is better that you take notes or make mind-maps. This will form the backbone of your work.
  7. We will compile some great class study articles (PDF format) that will aid you in learning the relevant topics.

10. Stay in Touch with Your Teacher

You can stay in touch with Dr Umm Abdillāh Naheed and your tutor via WhatsApp, and we will set up a dedicated Telegram group for all those registered so you can communicate with us, ask questions, and seek clarification.

11. Our Unique Methodology in this Course

We intend to teach this course from the perspective of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah, i.e., those who follow the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and cling to the path of his noble Companions (Allah be pleased with them), the methodology and traditions of the early Ḥadīth scholars. The People of Ḥadīth adhere to the narrations authentically reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions.

12. Our Tutors’ Teaching Approach

Our tutors adopt a friendly and approachable teaching style, making lessons engaging and accessible—especially for younger students. Despite this informal approach, the comprehensive knowledge covered over the course is designed to build a strong and lasting foundation in Islām for students’ lives, inshā’-Allāh!

13. Course Fees

The fee will be £20 per week (GBP) per student based on one hour of direct learning each week, to be paid three months in advance. You can pay by Debit Card from anywhere in the world. You will need to send the fee seven days before the first lesson every three months. You will be notified when the payment is due. Any delay in payment will result in the denial of access to the classes. Then, you will not be reinstated into the class until the full monthly payment is received, even if this results in you missing some lessons. Once you have been removed, all your work is erased from Google Classroom.

Remember that the course lasts for two years.

Payments are taken every three months or once a year (as you prefer):

* Term One: 12 lessons: £240 (GB Pounds) or $325 (US Dollars)
* Term Two: 12 lessons: £240 (GB Pounds) or $325 (US Dollars)
* Term Three: 12 lessons: £240 (GB Pounds) or $325 (US Dollars)

Or for the complete year:

* Academic year covering 36 lessons: £720 (GB Pounds) or $975 (US Dollars)

14. Leaving the Course and Missing Lessons

You can leave the course at any time without penalty (or hard feelings), but let us know at least two weeks before the next payment is due. Please note: Refund will not be given once the fee is paid, so completing the lessons for that period would be advisable. Additionally, if you are unwell, busy at work or on holiday, fees will not be refunded, nor carried over into the next month or months.

We expect students to catch up on any missed work. All the classes are recorded, so you can listen again and revise at any time, inshā’-Allāh. You will not be charged during term holidays, half-term holidays or during teacher absences. So, you only pay for the actual lessons, and not more than that. Please remember that this is a Tarbiyah (Cultivation) course with plenty of bespoke material produced by Shaikh Abu Khadeejah (may Allah preserve him). Therefore, students must take their studies seriously, and it requires commitment, but that does not mean they will not enjoy the lessons. Our students love the classes and join us each week as friends and family!
