This Tarbiyah course offers students a focused, one-hour weekly session designed to cultivate good character, strengthen Islamic identity, and provide practical guidance on living as a Muslim in today’s world—all within a supportive and structured online learning environment.
1. The Course
Living as a Muslim in Today’s World is a structured Tarbiyah course designed to build students’ knowledge and understanding of Islam across both historical and contemporary contexts. Through a carefully selected range of key topics and core Islamic texts—including the Qur’an and authentic Hadith—students will develop the ability to reflect, interpret, and engage with issues relevant to Muslims today.
The course offers a nurturing yet academically thoughtful environment. Students can ask Dr Umm Abdillāh Naheed questions during or after each session, and weekly homework is set to reinforce learning. Where submitted, it is marked and returned with feedback, inshā’ Allāh.
This is a three-year programme, paced appropriately for the level and age of younger students. It is particularly suited to girls aged 9 to 17 and serves as a strong foundation for further study, including the International GCSE in Islamic Studies or the Advanced Level Islamic Studies course with Shaykh Abu Khadeejah, inshā’ Allāh.
Students from around the world are welcome to join at any point in the year—whenever you begin, you will benefit, inshā’ Allāh.
The course content is based on custom notes written by Shaykh Abu Khadeejah ʿAbdul-Wāḥid, with hundreds of pages of material, updated regularly. May Allah bless and preserve it.
2. When Can I Begin?
Registration: You may register at any time throughout the year, with payments made in three-month installments.
Course Start Date: Ideally between September and December each year.
Payment Terms: Fees are payable every three months in advance until course completion (3 academic years), or you may opt to pay for the full year upfront.
The cost of each weekly class is £15. This includes marked homework for those who choose to do it (it is not mandatory). Two or more pupils from the immediate family: £10 each.
3. The Course Duration
⏰ This 60-minute class will be held on weekends—Saturdays at 1 pm BST (UK time)—to accommodate those busy with school, college, or work during the week. The lesson time has been chosen to suit as many time zones as possible, inshā’-Allāh. There will be 36 lessons per year, spread over three terms, roughly aligned with British and US school calendars. This means there will be breaks throughout the year, including during the ʿEids. The full course duration is three years; however, you can start, pause, and rejoin at any time. Each lesson is prepared as a “stand-alone” session, so you can enrol and join whenever you like and still follow the material easily.
